WELCOME TO THE RSPB WEST NORFOLK LOCAL GROUP

The West Norfolk RSPB Local Group was founded in 1976 by a few enthusiastic birdwatchers who were keen to gather together like-minded people regularly, so that a common interest could be shared on an organised basis. We welcome membership from both complete novice birdwatchers who wish to improve their overall knowledge of birds and their habitats, and those who have much knowledge and experience and are willing to pass it on to others. In the main we cater for people who live in West Norfolk. However, people living beyond those boundaries are more than welcomed to join.

The West Norfolk countryside is arguably the best bird watching area in the UK. It harbours a rich variety of habitat which is ideal for many species of birds (especially during migration) and a wealth of wildlife. There are several prime major bird reserves within easy reach locally, such as Titchwell and Snettisham RSPB reserves. The area also boasts many smaller but nevertheless important reserves not open to the public but where members of the Group often go on outside meetings.
